Noli Studios – Katajanokka II

Helsinki

The Scandic Central Helsinki hotel, newly opened in downtown Helsinki, combines a historical building designed by Eliel Saarinen in 1909 to a new building. During the four years of design and construction we collaborated very successfully with the hotel project. We delivered the site with more than 300 different access hatches and cover plates as well as corner protection profiles.

A discreet and easy access to building infrastructure through access hatches helps to ensure that the hotel guests can always enjoy pleasant and well working environment.

Products used:
Over 300 floor hatches, access hatches, soundproof and fireproof hatches, hair seam hatches as well as hatches that can be tiled or wall-papered to match their surrounding interior decoration materials. The floor hatches are opened with a key, while the hatches on walls and ceilings are opened either with a key or by pushing on a magnet mechanism.

Our hatches can be found in the common spaces of the hotel, such as common bathrooms, the gym and along hallways, as well as in individual hotel rooms. Our plastic and stainless steel corner protection lists are found all over the hotel.

Gillet Bar & Bistro, Helsinki

Product used: Used in the project: Brass trims with L- and T-profile and flat trims on the floor. The stairs have brass step corner trims and L-end trims. Inspection hatches cast in the floor. The brass strips of the major were used to combine concrete floors and dice stones into a coherent whole that respects the spirit of the Gillet Bar & Bistro space. The floor casting was done in two parts. First, the brass trims were attached to the base concrete and a 5 cm surface casting was done on top.

Lighthouse Hospital

Turku

Duuri was involved in the implementation of the functional premises of the newest part of Turku University Central Hospital, the Lighthouse Hospital, which opened in February, from start to finish. At a hospital site, products are subject to a lot of wear and special requirements, for example, in terms of hygiene and cleanability.

We delivered to the hospital:

  • Access control lists and buttons to guide e.g., visually impaired

  • Cast floor hatches, inspection and fire hatches

  • Stainless steel slabs and corner protection strips to protect corners from collisions

  • Aluminium floor mouldings

The glue-mounted guide strips and their dimensions were designed together with the customer. Adhesive fastening and a smooth surface were chosen for the guide mouldings, as no extra holes were wanted in the floor or screw heads or grooves collecting dirt in the mouldings.
